Meet the Men Behind

Masonville Orchards

Masonville Orchards was originally started in 1998 by Walt Rosenberg.  Over the years the business grew as did the number of orchards, up to 6 at one point.  One of the orchards was planted on one of  Walt’s neighbor’s property.  That orchard is affectionately known as the “Troy Orchard” named after the property owner Troy. The business grew to the point where Masonville Orchards was selling fruit via Mail Order, Farmers Markets from Boulder to Fort Collins and everywhere in between (Longmont, Greeley, Loveland) along with a U-pick orchard and country store in Ault, CO.   Well, father time won out along with some family medical issues motivated (ie forced) Walt into quasi retirement. The U-pick orchard/country store and a number of other orchards were sold off. Walt kept the Stove Prairie Orchard and Troy kept the Troy Orchard, which he renamed after his grandkids as the 3C Orchard (Carter, Calvin & Caylee).

Masonville Orchards Expands

to Texas

Walt became a “snowbird” and moved to Texas, started a Peach, Nectarine and Plum orchard to keep busy.  And since that was not enough, Walt also purchased a Big Game Hunting operation (YBR Hunting Ranch - YBRranchtexas.com). Now that Troy has also recently retired, he needs something to keep him busy too, besides all of the projects his wife has in store for him.  We thought about naming the orchard “Two Old Guys Orchard” but thought the original name that we had of Masonville Orchards was better, so there you have it.  Two old guys back in operation, but in a limited capacity.  We will not be selling fruit via farmers markets and such, all of our limited production will be going to Haykin Family Cidery in Aurora, CO.  We have done business with the Haykin family since its inception and proud we are a very small part of their success.  If you have question, feel free to call or email Walt or Troy for questions on varieties, grafting or any other BS!
